Applying to Join Heavenly Ski Patrol
Patrolling is challenging and rewarding work. Patrolling at Heavenly is simply fantastic. If you love the outdoors, have a great attitude, enjoy helping others, are a good skier, have strong medical skills (or a plan to obtain them), and are game to pick up the many other necessary abilities (including competency with inventorying and packing equipment, knots, avalanche search and rescue skills and equipment, lift evacuation, snowmobile towing, lift portal management, daily posting and removal of numerous signs and ropes, obstruction marking, tower pad adjustment, opening and closing special areas of the mountain, and competence at sweeping the numerous routes necessary to clear the mountain) then you can look forward to joining a great group of fun, competent people who will enhance your skiing experience.
Heavenly has approximately 120 patrollers, half paid and half non paid. With very few exceptions, they all perform the same functions on the hill and, because we maintain the same high levels of training and professionalism, there's no way for the public to discern the difference.
Nonpaid
If you are interested in becoming a nonpaid patroller at Heavenly, please e-mail Keith Neergaard, the nonpaid patrol director.
Paid
If you are interested in a paid patroller position, please contact paid patrol director Lee Allen at
lallen1@vailresorts.com or (530) 542-5120.
